Jackfruit, scientifically known as Artocarpus heterophyllus, is native to the Western Ghats of southern India and the rainforests of Malaysia. Belonging to the Moraceae family, which also includes figs, mulberries, and breadfruit, this tree grows from seeds.

Despite its unusual appearance, with an interior resembling shredded meat, ripe jackfruit has a remarkably sweet taste reminiscent of a blend of mango, pineapple, and banana, similar to the flavour of Juicy Fruit gum.
