Black Sapote Chocolate Pudding Fruit Tree
Black Sapote Chocolate Pudding Fruit Tree
Black Sapote, also known as the "chocolate pudding fruit," is a tropical tree fruit native to Mexico and parts of Central America. Its scientific name is Diospyros digyna. The fruit is about the size of a small apple or tomato and has a smooth, thin skin that turns from green to a dark olive colour when ripe. Its flesh, when fully ripe, is soft, custard-like, and dark brown, resembling chocolate pudding both in texture and taste.
Despite its nickname, the Black Sapote has a unique flavour that is sweet and mild, with hints of vanilla and a subtle taste of chocolate. It's often enjoyed fresh, where its creamy consistency makes it perfect for scooping out and eating with a spoon.
